LATEST INSTAGRAM FOOD CRAZE: SUSHI DOUGHNUTS!

Sushi burritos are sooo early 2016. It’s almost 2017, and sushi doughnuts are where it’s at. Yep, that’s how fast food trends move these days. Only a couple months ago, sushi doughnuts began to dominate the Instagram feed, and people are still experimenting with them. And for good reasons. They look incredible!

Sushi Doughnut Inspirations

Originally created by Sam Murphy of @sobeautifullyraw, a vegan food blogger, many other culinary enthusiasts have also quickly jumped on the trend to create some beautiful food inspirations. It turns out sushi doughnuts are super easy to make, and the white rice makes them an excellent canvas to illustrate your masterpiece with yummy, healthy ingredients. All you have to do is grease up a doughnut pan, fill it with cold rice (white rice works best) and decorate with your favourite ingredients! Sesame seeds, avocado, tuna, mayonnaise, cucumber, seaweed, the options are endless.

Asked if I could, then I did. This is my first sushi donut. #sushi #sushidonut #yunspire #yunspiretocook

Something fun and delicious to make? Sushi Donuts maybe? ?? To make: 4 cups cooked Sushi rice, 1 cup rice wine vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup Mirin. Then take out a small handful of rice and stuff it in the donut form. Then carefully turn the donut form upside down, and there are the Sushi donuts. As for toppings, you can add carrot stripes, avocado slices, pickled ginger, cucumber, nori stripes, chopped chives, sesame, fish or egg if you prefer. Anything you like! To make vegan Ponzu sauce: zest and juice of 2 lemons and 2 limes, 1/4 rice vinegar, 3/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup sake (gently heated to cook off alcohol), 1/4 cup brown rice syrup. Mix all ingredients together. Finally, drizzle the sauce over the Sushi Donuts. That's it! Happy Sushi Donut making and happy Friday! ✌️?
